Focus on Immunity

Winter cometh. And with it we experience shorter days, less sunlight, colder temperatures, and an increased risk of infection. The problem with cold air is that it is dry, and that dehydrates and thins the mucous membranes that line our sinuses, throat, trachea and the upper portion of our lungs. That mucus layer is the first, and outermost layer of our internal immune system.

Dry air reduces our ability to reject infection. Support yourself my boiling an old pan filled with water, or using a humidifier to support your immunity while you are at home.

We are fortunate that Shaklee's immune supporting product Triple Defense Boost supports healthy immune function and was demonstrated by lab testing to boost Natural Killer cell activity by 3x and to increase lymphocyte proliferation by 5.8x. [1]

This is a big deal because lymphocytes (white blood cells) are our primary immune soldiers. They also help to activate our killer T cells that roam our body to destroy infected cells. Triple Defense arrived as a great tasting berry-flavored powder, delivered in a convenient stick pack. Served either hot or cold, it goes down easy and packs a wallop when you need it.

It’s called “Triple Defense” because it works in 3 ways.

First, it is Immune-Supporting because it contains 3 critical immune-supporting nutrients: vitamin C (1,000 mg), vitamin D (2,000 IU) and zinc (2 mg). These nutrients will provide the solid nutritional foundation for supporting natural immune function.

Second, it is Immune-Boosting because it contains a patent-pending proprietary botanical blend of yeast beta-glucan, Reishi mushroom, and Panax ginseng to engage and boost your immune responses.

Third, it is Immune-Defending because it helps to protect the hard-working immune system. It contains a proprietary blend of elderberry extract, quercetin/hesperidin complex, and echinacea extract to help to stimulate our natural immune defenses.

While I was reviewing all these ingredients on PubMed [2] I was surprised at how many of the recent nutrient studies mentioned the SARS-CoV-2 virus (the cause of COVID-19).

But long before the pandemic struck us, all of these ingredients had already been extensively studied for their impact on health and disease processes.

Now, let’s review this impressive array of ingredients .
